Hooray for ME and Thanks to YOU

Today I m feeling VERY JOYFUL as I am celebrating the completion of a huge project. Yesterday morning, I mailed my portfolio for National Board Certification. This is the biggest academic or professional undertaking of my life thus far, and I'm really, really proud of myself.  I still have to take the test portion in June, and I won't know my results until December, but none of that matters right now. I am FLYING HIGH!

(This picture was taken in August, right after I received my box of materials. I was pretty freaked out by this long sheet of barcode labels that would eventually be placed on all my work.)

Thank you so much to all the dear people in my life who cheered me on and supported me in this journey. Here's a special shout-out to a few folks who took "support" to a whole new level.

Susan, my true blue friend and colleague extraordinaire: Thank you for having my back from day one and sticking by my side through the whole thing. You listened to my complaints, checked in on my progress, and believed in me completely.  YOU ROCK!

Tim, my official NBC mentor who went above and beyond (while staying within ethical guidelines!): Thanks a million for reading lengthy pieces of my work, providing very helpful reflective questions, and securing reimbursement for the many expenses of this project.

Simone, my brilliant life coach: I don't think I would have had the courage to even begin this project without the work we've done together. Thank you, especially, for your wisdom during the final stages of the project. It blows my mind that I was able to find JOY and EASE in doing so much hard work.

Charlie, the only man for me: What can I say? You are just incredible.  You were my camera guy, technology trouble-shooter, administrative assistant, editor, therapist, and writing coach. Most notably, you saved me from myself on several occasions when I was about a breath away from throwing the whole project in the dumpster.  I love you more than a billion Maine sunsets, and I very much look forward to having work-free Sundays with you.

(This picture was taken yesterday morning. All those barcode labels are inside the box, neatly affixed to my lovely work. I am doing a happy dance and basically showing the box who's boss.)

Hahahahaha!! LOVE these pictures! Of course I knew you could do it! Not only did I think you would you finish it, but I’m thinking it will be the best “box” they have ever received :) You DID let GO of it, right?? You are the Boss AND the Bomb!

  3. avatar Joy Tanksley says:

THANKS!!! (And yes, I DID let it go.)

I am so happy for you! You are amazing and such a “joy”! I agree with Susan, you are the Bomb, haven’t decided about the Boss yet! I hope you can float through the day knowing this special work is finished! You were on my mind and in my prayers this morning as I was on a glorious bike ride. I left at 7:10, just enough time to enjoy before having to take grandson to school. The air was chilly but definitely Springlike. In the distance I could see a silver mist hovering close to the ground. As I rode on the trail past Stewart’s Creek a young buck darted in front of me. I said, “Good morning,” but he paid me no attention! Another highlight was spotting a huge patch of yellow jonquils. There were so many that I could smell their fragrance as I rode past. I’m sure they were planted decades ago, perhaps as far back as the late 1800’s, knowing the history of the area. Sorry to have gone on and on but since this is such a special day for you, and you were on my mind as I rode, perhaps you can take one of those “joy moments” and imagine riding with me this morning. Take in the silver mist, the deer, the brilliant yellow jonquils, and their beautiful scent! “Drink it in” my Joy, for it’s another special day!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! What a wonderful project to have under foot.

Secondly, I believe I own the same pink shirt that you are wearing in the picture where you are dancing. With the ruffly part around one side of the neckline?

    Does that surprise you though?
