My Story

Hello there! Thank you so much for being here. I am a certified Martha Beck Life Coach, a certified Intuitive Eating coach, and a Nia instructor. What does that all mean? Basically, I help women get out of the hell of believing they aren’t enough so they can live bold, beautiful lives.

I know all about the hell of ‘not enough.’ For most of my life, I believed the lie that I wasn’t good enough. I thought the point of life was striving and struggling to become a better person, but no matter how hard I tried or what goals I achieved, it never seemed like enough. Looking back, I’m not really sure what I was working toward. Maybe you can relate.

One of the areas where I engaged in the struggle mentality big time was with my weight. I really thought being thin was the key to happiness. Years of dieting in search of the ideal body lead me to a seriously damaged relationship with food. And even at my lowest weight, I still hated my body and was utterly panicked about food.

Another area where I was always striving was with work. I was a textbook perfectionist and a true workaholic. As a public school teacher, I worked long hours, neglected my own self care, and still felt guilty all the time that I wasn’t doing enough in my profession.

In 2007, I hit a personal low. My compulsive overeating had spiraled out of control, and I was so miserable in my job that I felt physically ill on the way to work every day. This was not the life I had imagined for myself. I now see this dark time as a gift, because it motivated me to get help. I started working with a therapist and reading everything I could get my hands on that might offer help. I was especially inspired by the teachings of Martha Beck. Eventually, I moved out of therapy and hired a brilliant life coach, Simone Goudreau, who was able to help me apply the principles I was reading about to my everyday life.

Bit by bit, I’ve moved to a place where I love my body and food is a non-issue. This didn’t come from achieving “thin” but rather from accepting myself, treating my body with respect, and focusing on whole-person wellness rather than weight loss. I’m a huge proponent of the Health at Every Size movement and encourage you to check it out if you aren’t already familiar.

In doing the work of self-acceptance, I was also able to find fulfillment in my teaching job by dissolving limiting beliefs and ditching my perfectionist tendencies. And then, because it all felt so right, I left teaching and took a leap into this new career that is aligned with my passions and feels exciting and authentic. So, here I am, living the life of my dreams. I have moved from feeling trapped to being free, and I know exactly what it takes to cross over.

I hope you’ll take some time to explore my site. I’d especially love for you to join my mailing list so we can stay in touch! And please don’t hesitate to contact me with any comments or questions. I’d love to hear from you!
